THE OTHER DEEPER YOU By Dr. Alvin R. Mahrer
If you believe in things deeper inside you, they are almost always things about you--- your thoughts, your wishes, your feelings and emotions, your needs, your forgotten memories, your conflicts, your problems. your pathology, your unconscious impulses, you you you!
Can you even consider the mere possibility, just suppose, that there can be a whole other world inside, and in this world is a whole other deeper you - not more about you. A whole other deeper you ,
In this new book (The Other Deeper You) you will be introduced to the idea of an other deeper you. This can be revolutionary, and ridiculous.
For the visionary, the scholar, the academic, and the serious reader, this book offers something revolutionary, and ridiculous, but the book goes further, much further, by giving you the gift of a step-by-step guide for actually coming face-to-face with the other deeper you!

Quotations from "The Other Deeper You"
On the doorway....
"This doorway leads to a whole new world, an alien other world. It is a world that is far deeper than the world of your personal insides, far different from the world of your deeper needs and drives, far deeper than the inner world of what you are unconscious of about you. This other world has little or nothing to do with what more there is to you, of what you are like, but of which you are unconscious. This is the whole other world of the whole other you. It contains the qualities and characteristics, the possibilities and the potentialities of a whole other you." P.45
A problem with therapy today....
In contrast, it seems that most theories and most therapies make at least three errors that prevent them from entering the other world of the deeper insides when the feeling is bad. One is that most theories and therapies have their eye on the bad feeling, and thereby de-emphasize the importance of the scene of bad feeling. Most theories and therapies, therefore, rarely discover the actual moment of peak awful feeling. Second, most theories and therapies focus on identifying the nature or content of the bad feeling, rather than paying enough attention to the scene or moment of awful feeling. They focus on identifying it as depression or anxiety or anger or some other kind or type of bad feeling, lifted out from the encompassing scene or moment of bad feeling. Finally, most theories and therapies side with the bad feeling by trying to 'do something about the bad feeling, something like understanding its causes, relating it to some personality dimension, strengthening its defenses against whatever is deeper, or doing what therapies do to treat the feeling. The net result is that most theories and therapies fail to enter into the world of the deeper insides. P.202
"Imagine a world, though, in which you are no longer you. Nor are you in your ordinary state of consciousness and self-consciousness. You have entered a different state, an extraordinary state, a state beyond your ordinary state of consciousness and self-consciousness.... This is a world of possibilities, of the soup of what can become a whole different you, a radical, qualitative, transformational new you." P.112
